In partnership with Jacaranda Books, Chakula, and AFREADA, The Africa Centre presents the launch of a Cameroon-set queer love story, These Letters End in Tears by Musih Tedji Xaviere.

These Letters End in Tears is a story that powerfully charts the different ways that love, despite all odds, can persevere after the lovers; Fatima and Bessem are separated by the tragedy of discovery in a country where same-sex relationships are punishable by law.

Musih will be in conversation with mentor and fellow author JJ Bola and the discussion will be moderated by AFREADA and OtherStories founder Nancy Adimora.

Lauded by Kelechi Okafor as a 'gorgeous and heart-wrenching debut' this important story sheds light on Cameroonian life, bringing themes of civil war, queer life, gender, religion, and language as it operates in this country that is a metaphor for much of Africa.
