On Saturday 31st August, Young Africa Centre is collaborating for a second time with Cave Open Mic to bring you another exciting Open Mic Night event next week that’s not to be missed. This will be an evening featuring a host of talented poets, singers, comedians, and YOU!
Whether you're a seasoned artist or a first-timer, you're welcome to take the mic and share your talents with our supportive audience, or simply come through to listen and enjoy the performances.
Theme for the Month: Homecoming

Special Headliner: Miss Yankey
British/Ghanain creative Miss Yankey is an emerging force in the realm of spoken word. She has shared poetry on stages all over the globe, including Accra, NYC, and Melbourne. Her captivating performances have enchanted audiences on platforms such as BBC Radio, and as a regular artist at Sofar Sounds events. She has made waves on the BAFTA award-winning TV show 'Life & Rhymes' and showcased her talent on BT Sport's 'Sport in Words.' Moreover, Miss Yankey has graced prestigious venues including The West End's Criterion Theatre and Shakespeare's Globe, solidifying her influence in the spoken word arena.
Currently, Miss Yankey is developing an exciting Afrofuturism script for an immersive theatre project titled "Spoken Futurism Live" This innovative venture reflects her commitment to pushing boundaries and exploring the intersections of culture and storytelling. From stage to screen, radio to immersive theatre, Miss Yankey's artistry leaves a lasting impression on all who experience it, making her a powerful voice in contemporary performance.
