Come and immerse yourself in the vibrant sounds of the Eastern Nigerian Afro-Funk Revolution from the 1970s to the 1980s.

An Iba Ajie Centre production, directed by Ed Keazor, the film is a celebration of the vibrant Afro-Funk and Afro-Rock scene of Eastern Nigeria, of the decade 1970-1980, which emerged as green shoots of cultural renaissance after the tragic Nigerian civil war. This film celebrates the icons of a genre that breathed joyous energy to war-weary people and proved that music could be a true healing force.

With over 20 interview subjects, almost all of whom were stars of an Eastern music scene, this new film goes beyond the music and examines the socio-cultural and economic influences and impact.

The screening is followed by a performance by the amazing Lagos Afrofunk Collective.
