Come and immerse yourself in the vibrant sounds of the Eastern Nigerian Afro-Funk Revolution from the 1970s to the 1980s.

The evening will be a celebration of the vibrant Nigerian Afro-Funk and Afro-Rock scene of the decade 1970-1980, which saw several bands from the former war-ravaged areas emerge as green shoots of cultural renaissance after the tragic Nigerian civil war.

Directed by Ed Emeka Keazor, the screening will celebrate the icons of a genre that breathed joyous energy to a war-weary people and proved that music could be a true healing force, with musicians from across ethnic lines celebrating the common unifying bond - music.

The film features over 20 interviews with legends of Nigerian Afro-Funk, and rare archival footage of a glorious era in African music history. All to a soundtrack of 1970s hits of the legendary Nigerian Funk Bands - Heads Funk and Akwassa.
