Surveying the African Culinary Scene in the UK – 3
May 20 @ 19:30 - 21:30Free
The Africa Centre has a series of events planned for May, Africa Month. The four-part series titled: ‘Food For Thought: Surveying the African Culinary Scene in the UK’ looks at today’s African and diasporic culinary landscape and features panel discussions, cooking demos, and cultural performances from a broad and exciting line-up of guests and speakers that span the British hospitality industry and cultural spheres.
The series is co-curated with Akwasi Brenya-Mensa who describes himself as a humble polymath with over 10 years of experience as a restaurateur, caterer, and most recently, host of the successful, ‘Mensa, Plates, and Friends’ supper club.
The third event of the series is on Thursday 20 May. It explores the value created by community action groups and organisations creating spaces and opportunities for marginalised groups and challenging public policy. Joining us in conversation are: Desta Haile, Taalib Adanse, Sister Stella Headley, and Kim Prado.
FMax will close out the session with a spoken word performance.
