£28-32k per annum (dependent on experience)

Permanent, Full Time

Deadline: Thursday 25th July at 9am

We are looking for an ambitious and dynamic Events and Operations Co-ordinator to join the small high-functioning team here at The Africa Centre.

This is a new role created at an exciting time of development and growth for The Africa Centre following the move to our new home in Southwark. With a new permanent Director, a new team and new additional Trustees, we are at a pivotal moment as we prepare to embark on a major capital development project to build an Africa Centre for the 21st Century.

Reporting to the Head of Administration & Finance, the Events & Operations Co-ordinator will contribute to the development and execution of events held at The Africa Centre, both those events that form part of The Africa Centre’s own Programme of Events and those hosted by the Centre for external clients. You will also manage and promote our co-working space for entrepreneurs – The Hub, help grow the membership of the space, and ensure members are well looked after. You will also work alongside the Head of Finance & Administration to ensure smooth running of The Africa Centre premises by dealing with general office management including ensuring we always have essential office supplies, monitoring and managing external office and premises contractors and resolving office and premises issues. You will not only be required to work closely with internal members of The Africa Centre, but to develop good working relationships with visitors, guests, Centre users and Trustees.

You will be a key member of The Africa Centre team, dealing with events and general enquiries, as well as supporting walk-ins and phone queries with the rest of the team when required.

It is essential that the successful candidate has a keen interest in Africa and its Diaspora, and can effectively and enthusiastically support the ethos and aspirations of The Africa Centre.
