Senior Staff Released Following Restructuring Exercise

As a direct response to the significant financial challenges brought by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Board of The Africa Centre has restructured its management hierarchy. The outcome of this exercise is the removal of the roles of Director and Head of Development. This critical decision has been taken after careful consideration and full internal consultation with all affected parties.

This reorganisation is part of the Board’s actions designed to streamline the Charity’s operations and reduce its costs in order to preserve its long-term financial stability and safeguard its important legacy. The Board expresses its gratitude to both the outgoing Director, Kenneth Olumuyiwa Tharp, and Head of Development, Jess Mortlock, for their contributions over the past two years.

The Charity remains fully committed to its ongoing Capital Project and expects to meet all its objectives and to continue serving its diverse community.

Future programming plans are unaffected, and the Board will shortly unveil an updated version of the Charity’s governing articles and its bold and exciting plans for the opening of The Africa’s Centre’s new headquarters in Southwark, London in late 2021.

All enquiries regarding this development can be directed to Head of Communications, Belvin Tawuya via
