Africa Centre & Hogan Lovells celebrate Johnetta Cole

We are delighted to be partnering with Hogan Lovells to host a cocktail reception honouring African arts and culture on Wednesday 14th February 2017 from 6.30pm to 9pm. We invite you to join us at the Africa Centre brand new space, THE HUB, located at Union Yard Arches in Southwark as we welcome special guests Johnnetta Cole and Christine Crammer from the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art in Washington DC, for a one-night only special event. This event celebrates Johnnetta’s remarkable work at the Smithsonian spanning over three decades and 19 museums. It is also an opportunity to wish her well as she is departing from her role as Director in March 2017.

A cultural exploration

We will showcase artwork from young and talented Ghanaian photographer Juliana Kasumu, whose photographic series explores the history of the head-tie from Mali to New Orleans, coupled with a live acoustic performance by Jally Kebba Susso & Band and spoken word from renowned urban poet Jolade.
