Sub Saharan Africa Arts Sector Briefing

Join us in this unique opportunity to meet with and hear from three practicing African artists and programmers whose work spans multiple art-forms. There will also be a presentation from the British Council’s Sub Saharan Africa programming staff to share information on opportunities for building connections between UK and African creatives through the British Council, as well as a short presentation from the Director of The Africa Centre, Kenneth Olumuyiwa Tharp regarding the organisation’s latest developments.

The event is intended to stimulate interest in and provide insight into the various art scenes across Africa, to raise awareness in the UK sector of contemporary cultural initiatives in Africa, and provide you with an opportunity to learn about arts programming and curating in different contexts. The event will include presentations from Teesa Bahana Director of 32 East, Uganda, Boitumelo Motsoatsoe, Head of Programmes at Business & Arts South Africa and Oyindamola Fakeye, Nigerian creative producer and curator as well as a panel discussion chaired by Kenneth Tharp, discussing various approaches to Programming African culture in the UK. Discussions will be followed by a networking reception, with refreshments, and we would really value your participation.

Places are limited so please RVSP to let us know if you can join us at this event.
