As part of the Krio Descendants Union - United Kingdom and Ireland (KDU-UKI) 'Untold Stories' project, which was funded by The Mayor Of London's Commission for Diversity in the Public Realm, KDU-UKI in collaboration with the Africa Centre, will be holding a discussion event with the amazing 101 year old 'Lauretta', whose father was from Sierra Leone. Lauretta is West Africa's own 'Vera Lynn' as she too belonged to the same Entertainments National Services Association, singing and playing the piano for troops during World War 2 . Her story is fascinating as after the war she broadcast on the BBC and sang at a fashionable West End Nightclub where she met a host of celebrities including Louis Armstrong and Elizabeth Taylor! Come and hear this interesting, humourous 'Notable Krio' lady tell her largely untold intersting life story and join in the Q&A afterwards. . This is a free event but please register!
