A biodocumentary on the life and times of Captain (Dr) Richard Akiwande Savage, surgeon and first Nigerian to obtain an Army officer’s commission. An intimate story of his early life, as the product of an interracial marriage between an early African nationalist and a Scotswoman. His heroic tale of compassionate service as an Army Surgeon in War 2. On to 30 years of selfless public health practice in Eastern Nigeria. The film features interviews and rare archival images, paying sensitive tribute to a gentle, modest man, with a life of huge impact. This performance is an autobiographical storytale sourced from the 46 year musical career of singer/music historian Ed Emeka Keazor. Featuring the songbook of his musical collaborations through the years, with bands from all over Africa. From Highlife Afrobeat and Afro-Funk, with legendary bands like the Funkees, Wrinkar Experience, Dele Sosimi Afrobeat Orchestra, Tony Allen, Jimi Solanke, Rex Lawson Memorial Band and Fatai Rolling Dollar; on to Soukous, Rhumba and Zouk with L’Orchestre Banco Musica and Diva; Jazz with Jazz Express, Ajidagba etc The global cohort of the Lagos Afro-Funk Collective features alumni of some of Africa’s finest ensembles such as Osibisa, Fela Kuti’s Egypt 80, Awilo Longomba, Victor Olaiya, Manu Dibango and many more.
