Dialogue with Africa – Peter Sellars in conversation with Michael Walling

As an introduction to this summer`s Africa Salon, Border Crossings presents a discussion between their Patron Peter Sellars and Artistic Director Michael Walling: Dialogue with Africa.

Both directors have worked extensively with African artists, looking at the shared history of Western and African cultures, the legacy of slavery, and modern moves towards truth and reconciliation.

Peter is in London with his new production Desdemona – a theatre piece by Toni Morrison with music by Rokia Traore. Drawing on Shakespeare`s Othello, the production raises questions around the legacy of colonisation, Africa`s relationship with Shakespeare, and the role of culture in the process of healing.
