Open Mic Night

We're calling on poets, musicians, and storytellers, to share work that pulls on themes like family, resistance, activism, togetherness, and heritage

The night will be hosted by Tânia Miranda de Carvalho and there will be performances by the talented Mozambican-born Afro-Fusion artist MoYah and the incredible Sadatu Futa.

We will also be sharing footage of poet, activist, and artist Malangatana sharing some of his poetry. It's going to be a night of good vibes, great talent, and maybe a few surprises.

Deelee Dube - Jazz At The Africa Centre

London-born and multi-award-winning vocal artist and songwriter Deelee Dubé will perform live at the Africa Centre. She made history as the first British Sassy Awards recipient, winning the prestigious Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition in 2016, and possesses what Jazz Times called 'a warm tone, genuine blues feeling and easy rhythmic authority'.

Our Story

Originally conceived to foster non-governmental relations between newly independent Africa and Britain, The Africa Centre's mission is to educate, connect, and advocate for Africa and its diaspora. Previously located in Covent Garden, London for over five decades, we launched our new HQ in Southwark in June 2022.
