Prepare to be blown away by the energetic performances and captivating stage presence of this talented collective.

The event will be a celebration of the Nigerian Highlife music, Afrobeat, AfroFunk, and Afro-Jazz Revolution 1950-1995. The Collective features alumni of some of Africa’s foremost Afrobeat/AfroFunk ensembles. Such as Osibisa, Fela Kuti’s Egypt 80, Femi Kuti’s Positive Force, Lagbaja, Fela’s, The Funkees, Wrinkars Experience, Headzfunk and many more. The music is a retro celebration of the golden age of African music that gave birth to today’s modern phenomenon - Afrobeats.

Deelee Dube - Jazz At The Africa Centre

London-born and multi-award-winning vocal artist and songwriter Deelee Dubé will perform live at the Africa Centre. She made history as the first British Sassy Awards recipient, winning the prestigious Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition in 2016, and possesses what Jazz Times called 'a warm tone, genuine blues feeling and easy rhythmic authority'.

Our Story

Originally conceived to foster non-governmental relations between newly independent Africa and Britain, The Africa Centre's mission is to educate, connect, and advocate for Africa and its diaspora. Previously located in Covent Garden, London for over five decades, we launched our new HQ in Southwark in June 2022.
