Crème Fraîche is a new non-profit incubator programme for the best of London’s emerging artists. Their first cohort of 17 artists, comprises BA and MA graduates from the 2023 classes at all of London’s art schools.

The Crème Fraîche programme begins with a show of the artists’ degree showwork, which was held in October at the Institute of Contemporary Arts and will close with a residency at a French chateau in May. Between these two cornerstone events, the programme will offer support and advice on making the transition from studying to working as professional artists, and opportunities to meet collectors, gallerists, and curators.

The Africa Centre is thrilled to be supporting this important project by providing a critical opportunity to showcase throughout December, the work of three Crème Fraîche artists from the African diaspora: Bintou Badjie, Lola Collins, and Reinhard Agyekum. Their work truly represents some of the best paintings from this year’s degree shows, and we hope its display in The Africa Centre’s gallery is an inspiration to a new generation of artists.
